The Motor City Boxing Club

Coach Don Nelson’s dream of opening a boxing club in Oshawa became a reality in 1993. Don and some very good friends built our first club from scratch at 716 Wilson Road in Oshawa. In 1995, we moved to 475 Salisbury Street where the club prospered for 15 years. With the help of a lot of good people along the way, the support of an entire community, and the good fortune to have had some very talented young people walk through our doors, Motor City is now one the most respected boxing clubs in Canada.

In January 2011 we opened in partnership with Body Boomers Fitness Club, at their location in the Whitby Mall. This location was very good for our club and we enjoyed increased competitive success, while tripling our membership.

In August of 2014 we relocated to our current location, at 725 Bloor St W in Oshawa, within the confines of Durham Ultimate Fitness Club.

This facility features a fully equipped 4,000 sq ft boxing studio with full access to a brand new world class weight room, state of the art cardio studio, full service change rooms, steam rooms, spin studio, group fitness classes, and daycare. In total, members have access to roughly 30,000 sq ft of workout space. We also have a supplement shop and snack bar on site.

Now here’s the best part: members also have access to the facility 21 hours per day.

Membership packages start at just $37.50 bi-weekly (if you join with a friend), and the first class is always free. We offer a number of different payment options & membership packages for your convenience.

In addition, members can customize their membership package and have access to Hot Yoga classes, Crossfit725, & a women’s only fitness studio.

We’ve been operating in the Durham Region since 1993 and our athletes have established themselves as major players on the national boxing scene. As a not-for-profit organization, our mission has always been to promote and develop the sport of amateur boxing in Durham Region. We take young men and women with raw talent and transform them into skilled amateur boxers, capable of competing on an international level. We have produced a World Champion Professional and 14 Canadian Amateur Champions to date.

Although not all of our members go on to compete at a high level (in fact, most of our members never even compete), we are strong believers in the concept that boxing is a great activity for youth in general, keeping them on the straight and narrow so that they grow up to be contributing members of society.

Whether you are looking to become our next World Champion, or are simply looking to bring your fitness regime to new level without entering into a competitive boxing program, we are the Boxing Club for you.

See you in the gym!

The Motor City Boxing Club is a proud member in good standing of Boxing Ontario and Boxing Canada.
